Carroll EMC Helps Fund Paulding Co. Economic Development
DALLAS, GA – Carroll EMC presented a check to the Paulding County Economic Development February 16 to support area economic development efforts. The check is funded from unclaimed capital credits and one of many distributed to local community organizations.
A portion of the cooperative’s profits will be returned to the Member each year. While most Members claim their capital credits, a portion remains unclaimed. Based on recent changes in Georgia law, thanks to area delegation, Carroll EMC is able to use this money, which formerly was handed over to the state’s general fund, and reinvest it locally. The cooperative is limited to using it solely for education, economic development or nonprofit organizations.
“Economic development is something that has always been important for Carroll EMC. We were formed to improve the lives of communities and we’ve never stopped being focused on supporting our communities,” said Carroll EMC CEO, Tim Martin. “One way that we provide that is by supporting economic development. We want to help them as we help each other.”
The Paulding County Economic Development will use the funds from Carroll EMC to help bring all the partners within the community to work together to create a positive economic environment for old and new businesses in the community.
“We appreciate Carroll EMC and everything they do in the community,” said Mark Haney, President of WellStar Paulding Hospital and Paulding County Economic Development Board Chairman. “We’ve always been proud to have Carroll EMC as a partner in economic development in Paulding County and look forward to a continued strong relationship as we all grow together.”
